Kier scoops £110m Barnsley housing repairs

Kier has won a £110 million repair and maintenance contract with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council covering 9,000 houses.

The five-year contract, with a possible extension to 10 years, was won in competitive tender when the existing contract with Inspace came up for renewal.

Work to be carried out includes housing repairs, planned maintenance improvement and environmental work in Wombwell, Hoyland and the Dearne.

The contract staff will be transfered from Inspace to Kier, which will assume operations from 1 April 2010.
