Lovell wins £10.5m Welsh housing deal

Lovell has picked up a £10.5m contract to develop an affordable housing scheme in Newport, Wales.

The development, which will be called Parc Eglwys, will see Morgan Sindall’s affordable housing subsidiary building 40, two- and three-bedroom houses for open market sale with the first properties set to be released for sale early this summer.

A further 42 apartments are being delivered in partnership with Seren Group’s affordable housing division Fairlake and Newport City Council.

Construction work on the 82-home development in Bassaleg, west Newport, will begin this month and the scheme – designed by Hammonds architects – is due to complete in summer 2013.

Lovell regional director Nick Kurobasa said: “We have a strong relationship with Fairlake and are delighted to be working in partnership to deliver these new homes which will widen the choice and availability of affordable home ownership options locally and help answer the local demand for high-quality first-time buyer properties and for smaller family homes for sale.”
