Lovell wins £5.6m Leeds housing job

Affordable housing specialist Lovell has clinched a £5.6 million contract to build 61 new homes across three sites in Leeds for the Accent Foundation housing association.

Construction is set to start this month. The development will include a mix of flats, houses and bungalows – which will be built at Farrow Road, Armley; Chaucer Gardens, Pudsey, and Glen Road, Morley.

The project is due for completion in summer 2010 and will meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Accent Group’s head of residential development Andy Gamble, said: “After 12 months’ hard work in the planning stage, we are very pleased to finally get the first phase of sites underway. This is an important initiative for Leeds and we are delighted to be working with Lovell to deliver these much needed affordable homes.”

As part of the regeneration scheme, Lovell will provide training for a number of construction apprentices and provide work experience placements for local people giving them the opportunity to gain construction skills and experience.
