Morgan Sindall bags £24m Nottingham student halls deal

Morgan Sindall has won a £24m contract for Select Property Group’s Vita Student development in Nottingham.

The contractor has been appointed to deliver a 101,000 sq ft student accommodation block, which will hold 319 apartments.

Construction on the Nottingham development began this month and is due to be completed by 2020.

The building will be split into three-tiered towers, standing at six, eight and ten storeys tall.

The contractor is also currently delivering student accommodation for a Vita Birmingham scheme and finished the first stage of the structural work for this project in October.

Commenting on the firm’s relationship with client Select, Morgan Sindall area director Richard Fielding said: “We’ve built a strong and collaborative relationship through our work on the framework, and our ongoing construction of Vita Birmingham.”

Around 6,000 sq ft of the space will be a communal area, with the remaining space being used for residential, study rooms and a coffee bar.

Other consultants involved in the scheme include engineering and environmental firm BWB Consulting, and mechanical and engineering company Drayton Beaumont Services.

Morgan Sindall recently overhauled its management team, with managing director Saul Humphrey stepping down, and development director Scott Wilson being poached by Robertson Group.
