Murphy wins £11m luxury development deal

Murphy has won a contract to build a £11m luxury mixed-use development in Henley-on-Thames.

Developer Catalyst Capital picked the contractor for the deal, which will see it construct 14 high-end apartments and 10 retail units in the Oxfordshire town.

Archaeology work will begin on the site this month, with the scheme expected to be completed in February 2020.

Catalyst Capital is an investor and asset manager with a current asset portfolio of £1.4bn.

Last year Murphy unveiled its ambition to treble turnover from £50m to £150m by 2025.

Speaking to CN in June 2017, Murphy managing director of construction and property Shaun Sheldrake said the firm would be targeting joint ventures with housing associations to deliver affordable housing.

In June Murphy was picked as one of 20 contractors on a £500m construction framework for affordable homes across London and the South-east.

Murphy made it onto four of Catalyst Housing Association’s six lots, including those covering projects in London and outside of London worth between £12m and £30m.
