Murphy wins multi-million pound job in £1.5bn Elephant and Castle regen

Murphy has won a multi-million pound public realm deal at one of London’s largest regeneration schemes.

The contractor will provide communal open spaces, playgrounds, courtyards and a new high street at Lendlease’s Elephant Park as part of its £1.5bn regeneration of Elephant and Castle.

It will also lay roads, install outdoor seating and bicycle parking areas, as well as install new lighting and street furniture.

Murphy is due to complete the works in 2019.

Lendlease is working in partnership with Southwark Council to build over 2,500 new homes on the site by 2025.

Plans for the second phase of the development at Elephant Park were approved in December 2014, with 593 new homes, including a 31-storey residential tower.

McMullen Facades won a £16m contract to install glass facades on the residential tower in August this year.

The plans at Elephant Park also include 43,000 sq ft of new retail space.
