Nexus to let more contracts for Tyne and Wear metro upgrade

Nexus, the company that runs the Tyne and Wear metro system, has announced its intention to let framework contracts for the second phase of its £100 million asset renewal program.

This metro reinvigoration phase will include station refurbishment, overhead line renewal, signalling and telecommunications renewal or upgrade, capital maintenance of structures, escalator and lift replacement and depot equipment.

The framework contracts will cover a three year period with possible two year extensions.

Nexus is holding a market briefing event in Newcastle at St James Park on 9 July where details of the framework contracts will be presented.
