Northants council advertises £20m bypass job

Northamptonshire County Council is inviting bids for an 18-month £20 million contract to build the A509 Isham bypass.

The new 4.3 km section of highway between Kettering and Wellingborough in will be two lane dual carriageway.

Additional work to be carried out includes construction of two roundabouts, four structures passing over the road and three culverts carrying watercourses under the road.

The council is working on a major schemes business case for approval to secure funding through Department for Transport.

Subject to all funding being secured and protected the works will need to start on site in August 2010.

Contractors have until 2 December to submit pre-qualification questionnaires.
