Sisk has been chosen to build a £96m commercial project in what is its second win on Manchester’s £750m Circle Square development.
The contractor has been appointed by developer Bruntwood for the first package of commercial work on Circle Square.
In November 2017 Sisk landed a £140m deal to build 677 private rented apartments across two buildings for Bruntwood’s development partner Select Property Group.
Sisk said it had a 2021 completion date for both schemes and that its workforce would peak at 1,300 during the project’s final year.
Sisk managing director for the North and major projects Guy Fowler said: “Both projects demonstrate Sisk’s commitment to building a long-term strategic alliance with the city and our clients.
“We look forward to bringing our extensive residential and commercial expertise to these projects, working in an open and collaborative manner with all of the stakeholders on what is a landmark development for both clients and the city of Manchester.”
Located on the former site of the BBC’s Broadcasting House on Oxford Road, the 2.3m sq ft Circle Square masterplan is split into five phases to be delivered over a 10-year period.
Wates was the first contractor to secure work on phase one of the development, which includes two self-service apartment buildings, with 604 luxury apartments and 22 penthouses with external terraces.
Sisk’s two wins since then form part of masterplan’s largest development stage, 1B.
In March 2017 city planners gave the green light for phase 1C of the masterplan, which features an 18-storey building with 384 apartments and retail units on the ground floor.
