Smarte East invites bid for new £500m framework

Contractors are being invited to bid for a four year framework, worth up to £500 million, covering local authority building jobs across the East of England.

Up to 15 contractors will be signed up to the new installment of the Smarte East Alliance framework across three lots.

May Gurney, Willmott Dixon and Rok are among the contractors on the current Smarte East framework.

The first lot covers jobs under £500,000 while the second lot’s job values range from £500,000 to £2.5m.

The third and largest lot, covering jobs above £2.5m, could be worth up to £250m over the framework’s lifespan.

Work will be procured through the framework by Smarte East’s members – Essex, Herfordshire and Suffolk County Councils – but is also open to other local authorities in the area.

As many as 24 firms could be shortlisted and invited to tender for the framework in August. The deadline for pre-qualification questionnaires is 21 June.
