Southampton fires starting gun for £1bn Green Deal race

Southampton City Council has called bids for its ECO and Green Deal Delivery Scheme, worth between £35m and £1bn.

The council is looking for a delivery partner to carry out Green Deal retrofit and insulation works for itself, Portsmouth City Council and any public bodies within Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Surrey and West Sussex.

These include councils, registered housing providers, NHS organisations, police, fire and ambulance services.

The scheme may also include provision of measures under the Feed-in Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive funds, as well as behavioural change initiatives and smart metering.

Delivery partners will be responsible for marketing, surveying, manaiging the supply chain and performance monitoring, as well as securing funding.

Interested parties are advised to contact Southampton City Council before 24 June 2013.
