Specialist granted £28m loan for Bahrain water plant

UK Export Finance has granted a loan of £27.9m to support water specialist Bluewater Bio’s contract with Bahrain.

The company will upgrade a wastewater plant in the Tubli Bay area of the Gulf state.

International trade secretary Liam Fox (pictured) said the announcement demonstrated the expertise of the company.

“It also shows how UK Export Finance’s support ensures innovative businesses like Bluewater can take full advantage of international opportunities as we develop relationships as an independent trading nation,” he added.

The contract is worth £28.6m overall.

UK Export Finance is both an export credit agency and government department. A statement on its website said it helps UK companies fulfil contracts by measures including supporting working capital loans.
