Staffordshire fire station PFI worth £135m up for grabs

Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority is planning to launch a £135 million PFI project, covering the design, construction financing and operation of 10 new fire stations.

The appointed contractor will be required to provide building and facility management, IT, security, janitorial, cleaning and grounds maintenance services to the facilities.

The scope of the project is yet to be fixed and could be extended in both construction and facilities management.

While the scheme is expected to be procured through the traditional PFI method, it could also be funded through loans from the Government’s Infrastructure Finance Unit or the European Investment Bank.

The clients are due to hold a market briefing day on 12 April but it is now known when a contract notice will be published.
