Telford regeneration plans move forward

Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting proposals for the overhaul of Telford Ice Rink as part of a £250 million regeneration scheme.

The Ice Rink is integral to plans to overhaul the Southwater area to create a leisure and entertainment hub in the Midlands town.

Bars, restaurants, shops, homes, hotels and offices are all expected to be part of the wider plans.

Expressions of interest in the future management of the ice rink will be presented to the council in the autumn.

Councillor Stephen Bentley said: “Telford Ice Rink is a great facility for the town that is very well used. However, it is in need of some major investment.

“By working with specialist operators, who can bring investment and expertise, we can ensure that the facilities at Telford Ice Rink are improved for residents and visitors now and in the future.”
