Tenders invited for £12m offshore installation job

The South West of England Regional Development Agency has advertised a contract worth up to £12 million to install a Wave Hub offshore electrical facility.

Wave Hub will allow connection of wave energy converters to the National Grid, located c 10 nautical miles off St Ives Head, north Cornwall.

The contract includes the loadout, transportation and installation of 26km of subsea power cable and a hub structure in up to 50 metres of water, including nearshore trenching and a shore pull-in up the beach at Hayle.

Work is due to start on 20 October with completion scheduled for 30 July.

Contractors have until 17 July to express an interest and a shortlist of five will be announced on 3 August.
