University of Kent seeks contractor for £60m scheme

The University of Kent is inviting bids for a £60 million contract to develop student accommodation to provide 1,000 beds on its Canterbury campus.

It intends for the scheme, which also includes a 150-bed conference facility, to be complete by September 2011 and to achieve a minimum BREEAM rating of “Very Good”.

Bidders are expected to have a proven track record in developing schemes for universities.

Work is scheduled to start on site in January 2010.

A maximum of three contractors will be shortlisted on 16 November following the submission of pre-qualification documents due by 12 November.
