Vinci wins £35m Eastbourne tennis centre deal

Vinci has won a £35m contract to redevelop Eastbourne’s International Lawn Tennis Centre.

The firm was chosen by Eastbourne Borough Council as the main contractor for the £44m redevelopment project, which will see the construction of a new show court and practice courts at the Devonshire Park Centre. The centre hosts the annual Aegon International Tennis Championships, one of the major pre-Wimbledon grass court tournaments.

The development project will also see the construction of a conference and exhibition centre, as well as the restoration of three listed buildings: the Congress Theatre, Devonshire Park Theatre and Devonshire Park winter garden.

Parts of the building and park will remain in full operation throughout the construction process, which will not disrupt local events such as the Eastbourne Air Show and the Aegon International Tennis Championships.

Work will start immediately with construction expected to finish in the summer of 2019.
