VolkerFitzpatrick picked for £35m Ely Southern Bypass in Cambridgeshire

VolkerFitzpatrick has won a £35m contract to design and build the Ely Southern Bypass for Cambridgeshire County Council.

The proposed bypass will connect the A142 at Angel Drove to Stuntney Causeway in east Cambridgeshire.

Detailed designs work are scheduled to begin by December, with the earliest possible completion date scheduled for late 2017.

The planning permission for the new bypass has 17 conditions attached to protect the environment.

VolkerFitzpatrick will have to work with the council to ensure the conditions are discharged at an appropriate time. Some of these conditions need to be discharged before the road can be constructed.
