VolkerHighways wins Woolwich regeneration deal

VolkerHighways has won a contract to regenerate two public squares in Woolwich town centre ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

Greenwich Council awarded the firm a deal to carry out hard and soft landscaping, and provide a new layout for the market and new street lighting.

The contract is part of a major regeneration scheme funded by the Homes and Communities Agency with additional funding from Transport for London.

VolkerHighways managing director Peter Hyde said: “This type of specialist regeneration scheme is now a large part of our business.

“Civil engineering environmental enhancement schemes fit well with our skills and the way our teams work.”

VolkerHighways will start work on the contract in April and it is expected to be complete by April 2011.
