Wates scoops £16.9m Hammersmith Academy

Wates Construction has seen off bids from three other contractors to win a £16.9 million contract to build the Hammersmith Academy in West London.

The contractor will construct an 8,000 sq m facility on a brownfield site at 25 Cathnor Road with piling set to start on site next week.

The works are likely to involve associated site works, landscaping, some car parking, some internal fitting out and the installation of ICT infrastructure.

The academy, which will accommodate nearly 800 pupils, is scheduled to open in September 2011.
