West Yorkshire Police to build new HQs

West Yorkshire Police Authority is to procure a contractor to design, build, finance, operate and manage facilities and associated services on a PFI deal to run up to 30 years.

A Prior Information Notice was issued by the authority today for the contract – anticipated to encompass up to four schemes.

Schemes 1 and 2 will be to create a new headquarters and custody facility for the Wakefield and the Leeds, City & Holbeck divisions respectively.

Scheme 3 will see a centralised specialist and operational training facility created in the Wakefield area. Consideration is also being given to the inclusion of a fourth scheme, for a further divisional HQ with custody facilities in the Kirklees Division.

No total cost of the contract has been specified. A full contract notice will follow.
