Willmott Dixon preferred for £15m UCS job

Willmott Dixon has been named preferred bidder on a £15 million project to construct a new teaching block and student accommodation for the University Campus Suffolk.

The contractor is set to start enabling works on Orwell Quay following the completion of UCS’s waterfront building on Ipswich’s marina in 2008.

The Orwell Quay contract is the second of three phases of the University Quay development which will house a second academic teaching building, student’s union and student accommodation.

Once enabling work is complete, the company aims to sign the main contract to build Orwell Quay.

Willmott Dixon is teaming up with architect RMJM, project manager Turner & Townsend, structural engineer Faber Maunsell and M&E engineer John Packer Associates to carry out the Orwell Quay project.

Willmott Dixon managing director, East Anglia, Rob Lambe said: “We are delighted to be back at UCS involved in phase two of its development to provide an exciting new campus for its students and teaching staff.”
