Willmott Dixon wins £26m retirement village job

Willmott Dixon Housing has been awarded a £26 million contract by ExtraCare Charitable Trust for the main element of a 300-home retirement village in Milton Keynes.

The initial phase of the project will see the company create 184 units at Shenley Wood to be handed over in October 2011.

The homes, which are self contained and available for rent and private sale, are designed for people in their later years to lead active, independent lifestyles while also enjoying secure accommodation.

Willmott Dixon will also build community amenities, which include a shop, restaurant, bar, hair dresser, art studio, gym, greenhouse, bowls facilities and a woodworking workshop.
