CN's week in motion: Skanska, Bam and Dave McGoff

VIDEO: Check out our motion story and this brief run-through of just a selection of CN’s digital content this week (3 Oct – 7 Oct).

For this week’s project report, Construction News visited Manchester and Skanska / Bam Nuttall’s work on the city’s Ordsall Chord railway scheme; northern correspondent Charlie Schouten also interview McGoff Group executive director Dave McGoff on the firm’s transformation into an SME able to compete with tier one contractors.

Urgent bridge repairs over the M56 had to be conducted over just one weekend, meaning a Balfour Beatty / Mott MacDonald JV had to engage closely with the supply chain, as well as make effective use of some massive machinery.

News: One of the week’s biggest moves saw Morgan Sindall name former Bank of America Merrill Lynch head Michael Findlay as its new chairman; exclusive to CN, we learned Skanska and Costain were going head to head for a major National Grid gas compressor upgrade job.

Finally, Laing O’Rourke topped the contractor league for August, following its £850m deal with TH Real Estate on the St James Quarter project.
