Outline planning was granted last month for up to 2,100 new bedrooms on the campus and the university now aims to proceed over two phases.

The first phase will see around 1,300 rooms built to replace the existing accommodation at Castle Irwell.

Between three and four contractors to will be invited to tender for the job.
