Sellafield invites bids for £1.5bn framework

Companies are being invited to bid for a major design, engineering and safety case work framework on the nuclear decommissioning process at Sellafield and Capenhurst.

The framework could be worth as much as £1.5 billion over 15-years.

Sellafield envisage up to 24 parties working across eight lots. The framework – known as the design services alliance – includes the delivery of design and safety assessment, procured construction phases working with implementation contractors, refurbishment and enhancement design packages and support to post-operational clean out and decommissioning.

The contract is due to start on 1 April next year and will last until the end of March 2026.

A pre-bid conference will be held on 1 December at the Reghed Centre Cumbria to help interested parties gain an understanding of the requirements.

PQQ’s should be submitted by 10 January 2011.
