SHARE WATCH: Construction shares gain on back of Pre-Budget Report

Construction shares continued to rise this morning on the back of the Chancellor's Pre-Budget Report.

Yesterday the FTSE 100 surged 10 per cent and was up a further 0.7 per cent today to 4,181 points.

Meanwhile the FTSE 350 Construction and Materials index rose 0.4 per cent to 3,071 points and the FTSE 350 Support Services index went up 3 per cent to 2,596 points.

There were some big winners and some big losers among construction firms.

Taylor Wimpey plunged 26 per cent, Barratt dropped 9.9 per cent and Rok fell 14 per cent.

But consultant firm WSP Group went up 12.5 per cent, house builder Berkeley Group rose 8.5 per cent, while Kier rose 9.1 per cent.
