Shiplee confirmed as ODA construction director

The Olympic Delivery Authority has confirmed the appointment of High-Point Rendel director Howard Shiplee as director of construction.

Mr Shiplee will oversee construction contracts, budgets and timelines for all temporary and permanent Olympic and Paralympic venues and facilities.

Mr Shiplee, the project manager behind the redevelopment of Ascot racecourse, Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok airport and Manchester Airport's Terminal 2, will join the ODA in September.

ODA chief executive David Higgins said: 'Howard's work at Ascot has been rightly praised as showcasing British construction at its best - first class facilities delivered to time and to budget.

'His experience will be invaluable in helping to deliver the infrastructure and venues for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as ensuring we leave a lasting legacy.'
