Six in the frame for £40m Bradford College

Six contractors are eagerly awaiting a contract award for the £40m Bradford College redevelopment.

Bam Construct, ISG, Laing O’Rourke, Miller, Morgan Sindall and Shepherd are understood to have been shortlisted for the job which includes the construction of the phase two redevelopment of the college’s city centre campus.

Included in the works is the construction of a building with a footprint of 23,000 sqm.

The associated works include access roads, sewer systems, infrastructure, enabling and landscaping.

A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Borough Council and tenders were returned last week.

An OJEU notice issued in July said the total final value of the contract would be anywhere between £30m and £40m.

Work is expected to start in April 2012 and is due to complete by the end of 2015.

The new buildings will be built ahead of the demolition of the existing buildings to allow the college to continue to operate uninterrupted.
