Sports England selects contractors for frameworks worth £70m

Styles and Wood, ISG and Herbert Baggaley Construction make the running

Sport England – the brand name for the national sports governing bodies of the English Sports Council – has appointed contractors on three frameworks worth a total of £70 million.

The bulk of the construction work will be let under a four year £45 million deal for building modernisation, improvements and upgrades to sports and related facilities.

Work will be split across five lots, each shared by three contractors and worth around £3m annually.

Styles and Wood led the pack, securing places on three lots, while ISG and Herbert Baggaley Construction won two each.

Framework deals worth £10 million for the design and construction of external sports lighting and £15m for outdoor multiuse games areas including external court and other synthetic surfaces were also awarded.

J McCann & Co, CU Phosco Lighting, J Halliday Electrical and Highlights Floodlighting secured places on the lighting framework.

Smiths Construction, Blakedown Sport and Play, Support in Sport, Cleveland Land Services, Agrregate Industries UK and White Horse Contractors will share the surfacing works.

Sport England represents national governing bodies of sport including the Football Association, Rugby Football Union and England and Wales Cricket Board.
