Surrey University vet school plans approved

Plans for a new veterinary school at Surrey University have been approved.

The University of Surrey’s plans have been given the green light by Guildford Borough Council.

The university will build three new buildings designed by Devereux Architects.

Work on the site will begin early next year, with the buildings scheduled for completion in autumn 2015.

The main academic building will include a small animals clinical skills centre including a mock veterinary surgery. The veterinary pathology building will have laboratories for research and teaching on animal health. The large animals clinical skills centre will include a  teaching area where students learn about animal anatomy through animal simulators and livestock holding and handling areas.
