The Specialists Awards celebrate forward-thinking contractors

Innovative solutions were crucial to Mitie McCartney’s success at the Specialists in Construction Awards this year

Innovative solutions were crucial to Mitie McCartney’s success at the Specialists in Construction Awards this year. The fire protection contractor demonstrated an original approach to the technical challenges it faced for the £4.2 billion T5 project at Heathrow, which the judges credited as a “major job for a very demanding client”.

Appointed as the fire-stopping supplier, Mitie McCartney set about developing the initial brief by reviewing and modifying the designs to simplify fitting, reduce component costs and use innovative materials.

But they didn’t stop at that. As the designs advanced the Mitie team consistently worked to improve its fire-stopping solutions, selecting only a few manufacturers they deemed capable of meeting the project’s requirements. And the outcome surpassed all expectations.
