Vinci wins £46m Tesco West Brom complex

Vinci has won a £46 million contract to build a new retail and leisure development in the centre of West Bromwich for Tesco.

Vinci Construction UK’s Midlands Building Division will lead the project, which will involve the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a new Tesco Extra Store and 43 retail and leisure units. The complex will also include a new road linkway, a cinema and other support buildings and infrastructure.

Chris Pape, Vinci’s managing director building division, Midlands, South West, Wales and Retail, said:  “We are looking forward to rising to the challenge of providing a world class shopping and leisure facility for the people of West Bromwich to enjoy.  We will be working in partnership with Tesco Stores Ltd to ensure that all works are completed to the highest standard.”

Jonathan Simpson, corporate affairs manager for the supermarket giant, said: “Tesco is delighted to be investing in West Bromwich and helping with Sandwell’s regeneration vision for the town.  We are pleased to partner with Vinci on this prestigious project and look forward to seeing our vision for the town brought to life over the next two years.”
