Winning Work: Scotland - PRIVATE PROJECTS

While the Scottish government invests heavily, there’s also plenty of activity in the private sector.

Top of the list is Donald Trump’s £1 billion Trump International Golf Links scheme near St Andrews, which includes 950 holiday homes, 500 private residences, 36 luxury golf villas, a five-star, 450-bedroom hotel and a golf academy, not to mention two championship golf courses.

Detailed planning of the scheme is ongoing. British Energy, now part of EDF Energy, also plans to spend £1 billion on commissioning a new nuclear power station at an existing site at Torness, and an £850 million investment by Henderson Global Investors will see the redevelopment of the St James Centre in Edinburgh.

Both are in the early planning stages.
