York uni needs contractor for £100m expansion

The University of York is looking for a contractor for a potential £100 million expansion of its campus.

The university is planning a new 160-acre campus, including a new £50m college building catering for up to 650 student bed spaces. The contract covers the construction and management of the building on the Heslington East site, including hard and soft facilities management.

The university may be interested in investing in a ‘special purpose vehicle’ for the contract.

The contractor may then be asked to build and manage a second college on the Heslington East campus two years later.

The first college is expected to be completed by October 2014 and the second in October 2016. The total value of both colleges would add up to £100m.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 17 January 2012. Contact Robert Green on 01904328209 or email
